Lester B. Pearson Toronto International Airport (YYZ) Terminal 1 SDA Programme – Toronto, Canada

In 2000, the Lester B. Pearson Toronto International Airport launched the Airport Development Programme (ADP). As part of the ADP, a new Terminal 1 was commissioned to be built. The total cost of the ADP was C$4.4 billion. The new Terminal 1 consists of 42-gates, two piers (D with 17 gates and E with 10 gates), and a multi-level parking facility with 9,000 spaces. The eight (8) year ADP Programme was completed in 2008. 

In 2001, SITA was awarded the SDA (Service Delivery Agent) contract by the GTAA (Greater Toronto Airport Authority). The SDA was the formation of a structured model and team to support the outsourcing of Information Technology &Telephony (IT&T) at YYZ. The SDA Programme was a 5-year outsourcing contract.

The Outsourced IT&T Services comprising the SDA Programme included:

  • Service Provisioning Services
  • Business Services

Inspired Networks formed the principal team to deliver Business Services (Commercialization) into the GTAA and the tenants at the airport. The team was responsible product development including:

  • Market Analysis
  • Strategy Plans
  • Business Case
  • Pricing

The team represented the GTAA and SITA for account management and sales, and sales engineering and solution design into the airline tenants.

The team closed in excess of $60 thousand CAN in monthly recurring, and $3.8 million CAN in total contracts in multi-year data and voice contracts during the 14- month engagement.
Airport tenants included: Air Canada, JAZZ, Air Canada – Vacations, Lufthansa, Air Jamaica, Alitalia, BWIA, Mexicana, United Airlines, WestJet Airlines, US Customs Border Protection, Globe Ground, Opus Corporation, HMY Airways, CARA food services, Hertz, Budget, Alamo/National, and Dollar/Thrifty.
