Lester B. Pearson Toronto International Airport (YYZ) Terminal 3 Network Upgrade – Toronto, CanadaIn 2000, the Lester B. Pearson Toronto International Airport launched the Airport Development Programme (ADP). As part of the ADP, a new Terminal 1 was commissioned to be built. The total cost of the ADP was C$4.4 billion. The new Terminal 1 consists of 42-gates, two piers (D with 17 gates and E with 10 gates), and a multi-level parking facility with 9,000 spaces. The eight (8) year ADP Programme was completed in 2008.

Inspired Networks managed the delivery of the Campus Area Network (CAN). The CAN is a Cisco Powered Network which encompasses 130+ Cisco Catalyst 65xx series switches, redundant DWDM and SONET rings, DPT ring, 30+ Cisco PIX series firewalls, 250+ WLAN access points, and layered services including VoIP, WLAN, CCTV, managed VPN and Firewalls.

An extension of the newly deployed CAN at the airport was the upgrade of existing passenger terminals, hangars, and other operational / administrative buildings on the airport campus. Inspired Networks was engaged by the GTAA for the Network Switch Upgrade and User Migration.

Inspired Networks performed an audit of all existing system and user connections across eight (8) disparate networks. Inspired Networks, in coordination with the GTAA and Cisco, developed a network design extending the newly deployed CAN. The design included twenty (20) additional Cisco switches (6509, 6506, and 3550 series). Inspired Networks developed an upgrade plan, and in coordination with the GTAA developed a migration strategy and schedule.

Inspired Networks provided both technical and project management of the installation, configuration, and testing of all network elements, in-service migration of users and clients, and active services including critical airport applications. The user base included local airport authority administrative / operational staff, airline offices, ground handlers, fuel providers, security personnel and other tenants. Mission-critical services such as ATIMS, EVIDS, CCTV, ACS, and Baggage were included.
